Updated: 2024/8/17

This site serves as a public platform for presenting, preserving, providing open access to, and utilizing ecological and biodiversity soundscape monitoring recordings. As such, the data provided by the Service is generally made public by the data subjects themselves or disclosed in accordance with legal requirements. The respect and protection of personal data and privacy are managed according to this policy. By continuing to use the Service, including browsing relevant public information, users are deemed to have expressly agreed to this privacy policy, including compliance with its usage requirements, technical specifications, and any updates.

This privacy policy explains how the Service collects, processes, and utilizes users' personal data. Users can choose whether or not to provide their personal data when using the Service. However, certain features of the Service, such as single file or batch downloads, may require users to log in with a Google account or another single sign-on option to receive notifications. Without providing such account information, users may be unable to access these features.

The Service's servers are located within the Republic of China (Taiwan) and are governed by Taiwan's Personal Data Protection Act. Users, as data subjects, have rights under this Act, including the rights to query, correct, request cessation of processing and utilization, and delete their personal data. Data subjects can contact us using the information provided below to exercise these rights.

Data Collection

1. When users log in to this site, the Service will collect necessary identification information from Google or other single sign-on services. This information includes the account name, email address, and any other relevant details that users have authorized these single sign-on services to share with the Service.

2. The data collected through the login process is used exclusively for user identification, downloading recordings, and for related notifications and communications.

3. The Service may use the email address provided during the login process to contact users with important information and notifications as needed.

Activity Recording

4. This Service uses the latest version of Google Analytics (GA4) and Google Tag Manager (GTM) for traffic analysis and program management. These tools assist website and application administrators in understanding interactions between visitors and their sites or apps. The new version of Google Analytics does not collect cookie information directly from users' devices. Instead, it tracks user behavior through a floating user ID on this website. This data collection is solely for traffic analysis and website service monitoring by the management team. Additionally, the platform does not use behavioral records to identify individual visitors or capture users' actual IP addresses. If users wish to prevent their information from being collected, they can adjust their browser security settings or implement information blocking mechanisms (Do Not Track).

Third-Party Use

5. The publicly available data provided by this site, including data independently stored or transferred from third-party platforms, may contain personal information such as identifiers or geographical locations. Such data is made public by the data subjects themselves or disclosed in accordance with legal requirements and may be accessed or followed by third parties.

6. For personal data that has been made public by the data subjects or disclosed in accordance with legal requirements, further collection, processing, and use of this data generally do not require additional notification to the data subjects. Additionally, compilatory natural soundscape recordings and their metadata disclosed on this site are provided under the "CC Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC-BY-NC-4.0)" license. Such soundscape data may be shared by users on other public networks or social media platforms, which could involve cross-border transfers. Any further use of personal data embedded in such shared content will be governed by the privacy policies of the receiving platforms.

7. The Service may be required by law to provide users' personal data to law enforcement authorities.

8. Except as described above, the Service will not disclose users' unpublished personal data to any third party without the user's consent or unless required by law.

Data Management

9. The Service will retain necessary identification information related to user logins and application records associated with user accounts, in accordance with information system protection mechanisms. Activity records will be manually or automatically processed or deleted after a reasonable period to optimize system resources.

10. To ensure the proper functioning of the Service, users cannot delete their own login records. However, users may request record deletion through the contact methods provided by the Service.

Miscellaneous

11. Except for login identification and notification records, the Service does not track, collect, or store additional personal data about users. However, the Service reserves the right to perform reasonable de-identification or data quantification on login identification and user batch download records as needed. Data and information processed in this manner, which cannot be linked back to an individual’s personal identity, will no longer be considered personal data and may be used legally without restriction from the original purpose of collection.

12. If the Service detects improper use or leakage of user personal data, we will promptly notify users through available methods provided during login, such as via email.

13. Some audio files on the site may not be available for direct playback or download due to the inclusion of third-party voices. Users wishing to request exceptions under personal data protection laws—for instance, public agencies or academic research institutions needing data for public interest—may contact the Service to apply for use and ensure that the specified purposes comply with legal requirements.

Policy Updates

14. The Service may periodically update this Privacy Policy to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The most recent version of the updated policy will be posted on this platform, with no individual notifications. Users are encouraged to regularly review the latest version of the Privacy Policy. Continued use of the Service after any revisions signifies acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy, which will also apply retroactively to the user’s prior interactions with the Service.
